More than 500 participants attended the International Seminar on Vocational Education for Engineering Sciences 2023 ( ISVEES) with the theme “AI Integration in Vocational Education : Shaping the Workforce for Industrial 5.0 that was held online by Banjarmasin State Polytechnic on 24 October 2023, Tuesday (24/10/2023).
Joni Riadi, the Director of Banjarmasin State Polytechnic, officially opened the seminar. He genuinely appreciated and hoped that all participants who attended, especially students, could expand their insight and knowledge from this event.
“This academic seminar will explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Vocational Engineering Education, challenges, opportunities, and strategies for incorporating AI technologies into vocational engineering education programs to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for the future of industry” he said.
Although the international seminar was conducted virtually, it held significant importance for Banjarmasin State Polytechnic due to the participation of two exceptional speakers namely Dr. Phil. Rita Franshina Maruayana, MSc. from Technische Universitat Dresden, Germany and Prof. Dr. Ir. Teddy Surya Gunawan, CEng, IPU from the International Islamic University Malaysia.
Dr. Phil. Rita Franshina Maruayana, MSc. from Technische Universitat Dresden, Germany was the first speaker to present the topic of “How the Vocational Education System Exists in Germany, The Concept of Education and The Concept of Cooperation Between Learning Places (vocational school and industry)”.
She also emphasized the importance of communication and agreement between industry to facilitate vocational training and provide students with practical experience.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Ir. Teddy Surya Gunawan, CEng, IPU from the International Islamic University Malaysia shared his insights on the integration of IoT and artificial intelligence in industry. He explained the concept of Industry 5.0, which emphasized mass personalization and human-machine collaboration, and highlighted the importance of key enabling technologies such as IoT and AI in driving the industrial revolution.
Lastly, Teddy discussed the concept of “collect”, referring to a database for IoT data, and various machine learning algorithms, including Rnn Lstm, Cnn, and generative cell network, and their applications in pattern recognition and feature extraction.
